Have you been told you have a high Gleason Score? Don't panic, it is not a death sentence. It only means your cancer is aggressive and you need to be proactive in your treatment plan. For starters, I am a non medical person but I am someone who was told he had a Gleason score of 10. No one is a better advocate for you than YOU. You have options and time to do a little research and decide what treatment plan is best for you. For starters, I would get a second opinion. Possibly your doctor or urologist could provide you with doctors or facilities to contact. There are many cancer treatment facilities for this purpose. Just search the internet or go to cancer forums and ask other people where they went. Consultation with all three types of prostate cancer specialists—a urologist, a radiation oncologist and a medical oncologist—will offer the most comprehensive assessment of the available treatments and expected outcomes. Also your doctor may want additional tests. These are the ones I have had done; a bone scan, chest and pelvis CTs,MRIs,X-Rays, PET scan, and Prostascint scan.




I, for one, went to M.D. Anderson in Houston, Texas. This consult is contained in my My Story. While I did not accept or continue my treatment plan with M.D. Anderson they are considered one of the best cancer treatment centers in the world. I completed my treatment, a combination of Hormone (Lupron), IMRT and Proton at U of Florida Proton Therapy Institute in Jacksonville, Florida on 7/24/08.
